Better World Books and Alibris Report Wildly Successful Partnership Out of the Gate

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 26, 2010

Better World Books announces today that its recent partnership with Alibris, the largest independently owned and operated marketplace for sellers of new and used books, has already generated over $ 1.5 million in book sales for Alibriss independent sellers of new and used books. The success, the result of just six months of collaboration, far exceeds projections.

Alibris primary objective is generating and increasing sales for our independent sellers worldwide, said Brian Elliott, president and CEO of Alibris. By partnering with Better World Books, we knew we could bring the used books that are listed for sale by our sellers to many more eager shoppers, but we never anticipated this level of success in such a short period.

The Alibris marketplace features more than 100 million items and specializes in new, out-of-print, rare, hard-to-find, and used books. The partnership makes Alibris extensive inventory available through the BetterWorldBooks.com website, offering more used books to a wider group of consumers than ever before. Better World Books, a for-profit venture, collects and sells new and used books online, donating a percentage of each sale to help fund literacy initiatives worldwide.

The recent collaboration with Better World Books has significantly impacted the number of books weve been able to sell through Alibris, said Ana Arduz of Supertextbook Online, an Alibris seller. By tapping Better Worlds well-established and user-friendly platform, weve been able to successfully attract new customers in huge numbers. We look forward to continuing to reap the rewards generated from this partnership.

Alibris new, out-of-print, and used books, combined with the three million books available in Better Worlds Mishawaka, Indiana warehouse, form a comprehensive catalog of books to suit a full spectrum of needs. All books purchased on the Better World Books websiteincluding those from Alibris booksellershelp to fund high-impact literacy programs in the USA and around the world, such as Books for Africa and the National Center for Family Literacy.

Alibris is well-known and respected throughout the used book industry, and were really pleased with the results of this fruitful new collaboration, David Murphy, CEO of Better World Books said. Together weve helped so many booklovers and booksellers come together and offer an even farther-reaching exchange of used books.
